Making the Most of Kindermusik® Classes

Please ... always check your mobile before heading off to class in the event of a sudden class cancellation (eg. teacher is sick)
Plan to arrive about 5-10 minutes early for class. Arriving a little before class provides time for your child to settle in to the musical environment as they prepare to enjoy exploring instruments, reading books, or listening to music.
Toys, juice cups and dummies need to be kept out of sight and snacks should be finished prior to class.
Please dress comfortably and be prepared to take your shoes and socks off. Barefoot is best for children in any movement program but if you would like them to wear socks, please make sure that they have rubber grips on the sole.
During Class, the most important thing you can do for your child is to be an active and patient role model. It is not uncommon for a child to attend several classes before feeling comfortable in class. Don't be discouraged - what a child is absorbing in class is often more evident in the comfort of the home environment than in a certain level of participation in class. The understanding and consistency of the parent or caregiver in class and at home are key to facilitating musical learning and growth.
If you are attending a Village class, please bring along a small blanket to lay your baby on for massage time.
You and your child will benefit enormously from the Kindermusik® experience, especially if you can make active use of your At Home Materials. Frequent use of these at home throughout the week - playing the music, singing the songs, doing the suggested activities - makes all the difference in a child's comfort and participation in the classroom.
Please do not hesitate to contact the Minimusik office by e-mail or phone if we can be of further help. We look forward to having you and your child join us for a great semester of Kindermusik® classes!
